Certified Russian Interpreter at Work

I am a certified Russian interpreter (CMI-Russian, NBCMI) and a member of the California Healthcare Interpreting Association. I provide consecutive interpreting services in a variety of health care, education, social services, business, and immigration settings. Contact me to discuss how I can help you or your clients.

My interpreting experience includes but is not limited to:

  • Interpreting for Russian-speaking patients who need a certified medical interpreter. Interpreting is provided on-site in outpatient clinic and hospital settings, online via specialized video platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) or over-the-phone. Interpreting sessions range from regular doctor's appointments to pre- or post-surgery appointments to urgent same-day clinic appointments to medical insurance appointments to qualified/agreed/independent medical evaluations (medical appointments for workers’ compensation insurance).
  • Interpreting for Russian-speaking residents applying for public assistance programs at county departments and agencies of social services.
  • Interpreting for Russian-speaking students and their parents at parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings and amendments, and parent counseling sessions. I also provide speech and language assessment of Russian-speaking students for US schools.
  • Interpreting for visiting Russian businessmen in a variety of settings: negotiations, business lunches, tours of production facilities, establishing contact with American partners, speech assessment of Russian-speaking employees for US companies.
  • Interpreting for Russian-speaking asylum seekers at asylum interviews and attorney-client consultations.

I provide consecutive interpreting¹ with occasional switches to the simultaneous mode², as required by the dynamic nature of the interpreting session. My services also include sight translation³ of various documents and forms.

Note 1: Consecutive interpreting - the mode of interpreting whereby the interpreter relays a message in another language in a sequential manner after the speaker has paused or has completed a thought (Green, C.E., 1995, Medical Interpretation Curriculum Training Program: Vista Community Clinic, California).

Note 2: Simultaneous interpreting - converting a speaker's [...] message into another language while the speaker [...] continues to speak [...] ( The National Council on Interpreting in Health Care)

Note 3: Sight translation - oral rendition of a written text from one language into another on the spot.
